1st PRIZE OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION – URBAN REGENERATION PRAILLE-ACACIAS-VERNETS ETOILE, GENEVA
The Portuguese studios Gonçalo Byrne, PROAP and the Swiss studio Alain Dupraz won the International competition for the urbanism project of Étoile, an important area, which is part of the Praille-Acacias-Vernets’ (PAV) urban regeneration plan in Geneva, Switzerland.
The concerning area shall be one of the many future centralities on the Geneva’s Metropolitan area and its development includes habitation, services, equipments (in which is distinguished the new Justice Palace) and public spaces programs, completing around half a million square meters of built surface in a terrain with a total of 14 hectares, predicted to initiate its construction in 2020.
Therefore, this plan proposes a high construction density, accomplished by creating new structuring blocks, articulated with towers gradually varying in height until a 50 floor maximum height and also proposes the construction of a reinforced public space, comprehending a landscape intervention of the same importance.
