COASTAL ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING IDEAS FOR BATHING SERVICES STRUCTURES, SAN GIOVANNI DI SINIS, I
The project proposes an integrated system of interventions adapted to the complexity of the seaside, combining the requirements of development, protection of the archaeological and historical presences and of the natural landscape, and the needs of tourism and recreational use of the site, coping with the resolution of the degradation problems of the dune system.
In particular, it provides for a system of fences able to reconstruct the dune system parallel to the coastline, which make clear the contrast between the rigid form of protection elements and the natural modulation of the dunes.
By virtue of the characteristics of the ecosystem and the landscape a minimal installation of structures has been provided for the sunbathing on the beach, and the remaining equipment has been placed along the road. The accessibility to the beach is ensured by a reversible system for pedestrian use, based on a rolling out mat, the fruit of one of the leading Italian companies’ labour in the field of manufacturing of wooden floor, which has also offered its expertise for the prototypes wooden modular furniture designed for the beach.
The particular morphology of the coast helps with the separation of traffic and pedestrian flows, but at the same time, the proposition of a system of furniture and functional settlement on the top of the slope, makes possible to mitigate the presence of the road.
