CONCURSO DE PROYECTOS COM INTERVENCIÓN DE JURADO DESTINADO A LA CREACIÓN DE UN PARQUE PARA LA INTERPRETACIÓN DEL TRANSPORTE Y LA OBRA PÚBLICA EN MÁLAGA
The main structuring element of this project was the topography complemented by water and vegetation. The result was a large clearing surrounding the lakes and adjacent to the museum building. The entire remaining area was defined by a dense and diverse covering of trees and bushes and by a system of clearings of different dimensions.
Also using vegetation, we proposed a thick vegetation buffer which, on one hand would underline our approach for an archetypical “oasis”, and on the other hand would turn the park inwards, promoting its deliberate disconnection from its context.
The combination of a great variety of vegetation with different active elements of water, introduced important synergies in ecological terms. In effect, the park could also function as an authentic oasis of fauna.
We proposed such a distinctly artificial system not only because it fits the context but because the park is already supported by operating systems introduced artificially into the landscape. The aim was not to create a contra natural park which would conflict with natural processes and neither that it would work like an amusement park in a purposely autistic attitude, becoming unsustainable for the support which gave birth to it.
We believe even today that the value of the conceptual discourse surrounding the design of this park, as with other parks we have designed, was above all concerned with obtaining an artificial system capable of interpreting the metabolisms of the landscape that supports it. Furthermore, to function within this interpretation, in order to optimise the remaining processes with which it is being built within an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable philosophy.
