The Fort of Fenestrelle is the main alpine fortress of Europe, exceptional/outstanding realization of military architecture, planned and realized between 1727 and 1850 and landmark of the Province of Turin. The fortified complex has an extension of about 3 km, winning a difference in height of 635 m and it’s composed by, besides the wall, three forts and others defensive structures, with an entire area of building of 1.300.000 sqm.
The proposal starts on the idea of the fort as a structure that help the reading of the landscape and in the reinvention of a relationship between the space and the natural times; an introduction of a new human presence in the mountain, a recover of a traditional ecology of agriculture and farming, using the fortifications’ net as point of support.
