The project for Forlanini Park falls upon an area of around 320, east from the urban centre of Milan, near Linate airport and is integrated – as well as Parks Maserati and Monlué - in a planned green belt. Its an area with great territorial complexity, crossed by big arterial routes and where typical disqualifying occupations of urban periphery and producing agricultural fields coexist. The proposal defined essentially a guide strategy for the transformation of the site into a big green park, considering it as an opportunity to intervene in people’s relations with the environment, profiting from the scale of the intervention to solve territorial problems related with the context and the site, establishing relations, drawing frontiers, relating it with the city. These aims were pursued through a very simple structure, with sustainable managing, supported by very attractive functions.
The structural proposal for the park, to be developed in six pre defined phases, along a period close to ten years, is based on the clear demarcation of a big central vacant space, which persistence is extended as the circumstance with biggest absolute value, and the constitution of a peripheral border, stressing the transgressing character of the crossing of river Lambro, which indicates the connection ways with the adjacent green parks.
