Mondego’s Green Park is located on the right hand side of Mondego´s riverbank. Two basic spatial relations act as vectors, structure the park’s general progression, its functional organization and its typology succession: the urban centre proximity and the river proximity.
The result is a progressive naturalization of the space, from the city towards the river, through gradual transitions within a common matrix. A rugged micro modulated surface matches the terrain small steepness, shaped in two imperceptible valleys. These valleys are extremely important regarding drainage, acting as use and paving organisers, opposing drained and non-drained areas. Over the basic ground structure, a wooden path structure (a pontoons) is established, generated from an orthogonal mesh. Due to the valleys, the platforms are slightly rotated and adjusted to the terrain.
