This urban space intends to respond to environmental and urban renewal issues by improving the quality of the brook Ribeira de Seiça, providing an area with natural character, intended as an entertainment and sports area allied with its own natural function and with the treatment system of the channel space. This offers the cities’ population and all its visitors singularly contextualized equipment, developing a correct articulation between the connected urban tissue and the brook’s natural space, in order to solve certain conflict issues and to contribute to a coherent relation among the different parts of this urban frontier situation. Structurally, the park is organized as an equipped linear space, walkable, closely related with the Municipal Market, that happens here once a week. A paved area acts as a transition area attached to the Municipal Market. Material selection was based on the criteria of an aesthetically consistent relationship of the parts, unifying the territory in the articulation between the park and the urban space. As a conclusion, Ourém’s Linear Park intends to provide attractive spaces in which one can experience the complex relation between nature, technology and urbanity.
