The park of São Romão intervention embraces specifically the right bank of river Lis, from the northern edge up to the São Romão Bridge. Although there are sparse urban episodes, the area is defined from a peripheral urban territory, very characteristic in small cities, and from the character of the whole area given by the natural canal-space created by river Lis. The proposal, in its essence, is oriented towards the establishment of a continuous route, qualified and organized with staying-spots, which would allow visitors to walk along river Lis in a comfortable way, giving priority to the walkways and cycling paths. In parallel, some particular situations appear necessary, and need special treatment. In the case of the São Romão Park, there exists a parking lot, an area dedicated to open-air leisure activities, areas for radical sports, all over with the predominance of green areas.
The proposed solutions are intended to potentiate the development of the site in terms of specific urban and social functions, simultaneously enhancing its landscape and ecological value by the entire preservation of the vegetal material in all areas.
