The project for Valdebebas Park defined an area of 2,600 km in width and including and hosting an enormous quantity of facilities, equipment and activities.
This space is fundamentally characterised by its complementary nature as a constant, firmly constructed perimeter frontier. This great border plays an exceptional role both in terms of park identity and in its functionality. For these motives, we set out a park that would be closed at night, which does not imply the materialisation of an established border that abruptly separates the interior and the exterior. The border acts as a space for mediation between the two environments present, the urban and the green, serving as a highly effective filter that interacts with the built urbanised area on the one side and the park on the other, generating a genuine “pre-park” space acting as a catalyser and pole of great attraction given its implementation as an inhabitable wall along whose extent programs, experiences and actions take place.
